Electronic Recycling

The Lincoln Heritage Resource Conservation and Development Council has received a grant for an electronic recycling program and is implementing a plan to collect unwanted electronic equipment in Douglas County.  The Douglas County Health Department is assisting with this program by organizing bi-monthly drop-offs in six of the county’s communities.

The schedule would be as follows: 

The following is a schedule of the towns, drop-off locations, and the time that the electronic recycling pick-up trailer will be at each. Keep in mind the trailer will only be at each location for 1 hour.

Newman City Park (east side) 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Items accepted free of charge include: Audio devices, batteries (from cell phones, flashlights and cars,) cables & wire, computers and all parts (fee for monitors),  copiers, DVD players, fax machines, printers, stereos, speakers, VCRs, cameras, clocks and typewriters.

Computer monitors and microwaves are accepted for a fee of $5 ($20 for broken tube), and televisions of all sizes are accepted at a fees ranging from $10 to $40 depending on the size. (Additional fee if tube is broken)

The Health Department feels this is an excellent opportunity for the communities of Douglas County to get rid of unwanted electronic items while helping the environment at the same time, by keeping these items out of our landfills. NO white goods -- refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water heaters

Items with a disposal fee are identified, ALL OTHER ITEMS ARE FREE
